- The effective date of the new quality management standards continues to quickly approach. A firm’s system of quality management must be operational by December 15, 2025; therefore, firms will need to have identified and understood their firm’s individual risks and have implemented the appropriate risk responses.
Attend this session to understand how these changes reshape peer review expectations and firm responsibilities under the updated framework:
- Aligning with SQMS 1–2, SAS 146, and SSARS 26: Learn how the AICPA’s Statements on Quality Management Standards reinforce scalable, risk‑based systems for both firm‑level quality management and engagement reviews.
- PRSU 2 Highlights: Explore the updated terminology and risk‑based provisions introduced in PRSU No. 2, accounting for the shift away from traditional quality control structures.
- Firm Responsibilities Elevated: Understand new expectations that firm leadership—specifically the CEO or managing partner—must annually assess and certify that the QM system “provides reasonable assurance” of meeting quality objectives.
- Implementation Timelines & Resources: Firms must adopt a compliant QM system by December 15, 2025, with early adoption permitted. Peer reviews beginning December 2024 will apply only the omnibus changes, while full QM‑aligned standards take effect starting with firm years ending December 31, 2025. We will also provide practical aids, checklists, and a crosswalk between SQCS and SQMS to support compliance.
