As the 2023 tax season is upon us, this course will take you through the basic and the most complicated fiduciary income tax issues facing practitioners from the concept of distributable net income, the income distribution deduction, allocation of capital gains to income, passthrough entities such as LLCs and S corporations being owned by QTIP trusts, the definition of trust accounting income versus taxable income, the allocation of items of income, expense, and deduction, and credit between the decedent’s final return and the decedent’s estate income tax return, capital gain issues if any in connection with funding marital shares and by-pass shares, identifying pecuniary versus formula bequests, and trust terminations, the 199A deduction as it relates to trusts, and the $1,000,000 millionaire’s tax in Massachusetts as it relates to trusts.
